CRANLEIGH METHODIST CHURCH
My Singing Group is a friendly and relaxed community choir based in Cranleigh.
The group meet on Wednesday evenings at Cranleigh Methodist Church.
We sing all styles of popular songs, from golden oldies to modern hits, across a variety of genres. Songs are learnt by ear using call-and-response, so you don’t need to be able to read music to join us. I accompany the group on acoustic guitar, adding another level of energy and creating a richer sound. I arrange and adapt the songs to bring out the best in our voices.
The group thoroughly enjoy singing in harmony and there is always room for solos and duets.
New members are always welcome. There are no auditions and we are a mixed-level group.
What sets My Singing Group apart from other choirs is that every session I teach breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups and singing techniques that help improve everyone’s overall skills and knowledge, as well as enhancing the group’s ability and unity.
If you are interested in joining the group then email me at mysinginggroup@gmail.com
Each week I start the session with warm ups, vocal exercises and harmony games. I then work through the current song dividing the group into voice groups, simply 'low', 'mid' and 'high'. I aim to help each member feel comfortable and confident with where their voice fits in the group. Members can choose which voice part they want to sing and change parts at any time.
Singing in a group has been proven to boost your confidence and your mental health as well as being a wonderfully uplifting experience, and it’s a great way to meet like-minded new people and make new friends.
Why singing in a community choir is good for you. Click the link below to read the University of Oxford's research on this.
I started My Singing Group in Barcelona in 2015 where it successfully ran for 6 years. Over a 4 year period I ran two groups in the city. The group was made up of international people from all over the world. singers of all ages met weekly to sing contemporary popular songs. The group became a community, a family and a place where people could make new friendships.
I started My Singing Group 'Cranleigh' in September 2023. The group is steadily growing each week and they are a lovely group of people.
Sessions costs £10.
Once you become a member you can choose to pay online at the beginning of every month.
The membership of the group is important to us. The commitment to join the group regularly really helps improve everyone's confidence as well as strengthen the sound and unity of the group.

I was quite nervous on arriving at my first session but needn’t have worried. I was made very welcome by all concerned-it helped a lot that the song we were learning was Bob Marley’s ‘Is this love’ a great favourite of mine.
Since that first night I have really enjoyed singing with the group, making new friends
and feeling part of a team.
If you are tempted to give it a try- go for it!
You will be very welcome.
Every time I attend a session with Natalie, the worries and stress of the week are put to one side and I have a fun and relaxing time singing. Natalie is a great teacher, very friendly and puts everyone at ease. I'm so pleased she set the group up!
A huge thank you to you for starting this group! I feel very lucky. I may feel tired when I arrive but within minutes I'm energised and excited knowing it will be another great evening. I love the warm-up exercises too and always look forward to coming.
